Optical Step-Index


The application of high tech production factors and long lasting know-how are decisive for the fabrication of »optical quartz glas fibers«.

In respect of the applicability of different wavelengths of light one has to distinguish between two different quartz core configurations at the step index Multimode LWL:

  •  For applications in the ultraviolet area (ca. 200 nm to 1.100 nm) aqueous quartz glas is applied (typically 700 ppm).
  • Waterless quartz glas (< 0,5 ppm) is preferred in the so-called IR area
    (ca. 450 nm – 2.200 nm) to receive the best possible transmission values.

In the area of 450 to 1.100 nm both LWL types can be used.
